Using nature to protect and reduce food waste
Chinova Bioworks prioritizes quality, freshness and shelf-life without compromising on health and sustainability.
Chinova Bioworks was founded in 2016 by Natasha Dhayagude and David Brown, who met at an entrepreneurship accelerator in New Brunswick. Driven by a shared passion for sustainability, reducing food waste, and the incredible potential of mushrooms, they discovered a groundbreaking solution: a natural alternative to artificial preservatives using fiber found in white button mushrooms.
Partnering with farmers, they upcycled white button mushroom stems—an often discarded byproduct—and developed a patented green-chemistry process to create innovative ingredients.
After years of dedicated research and securing regulatory approvals, Chinova Bioworks launched Chiber™, a natural fiber extracted from upcycled mushroom stems. Chiber™ enhances the shelf life of food and beverages while meeting consumer demands for clean-label, sustainable, and high-quality ingredients.
Today, Chinova Bioworks continues to lead the way in harnessing the protective power of mushrooms, delivering solutions that reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and improve product freshness for consumers and producers alike.
